Auld Lang Syne

she sweeps the broken glass

where her broke down Ford is parked

tires flat and windshield busted

her black tooth smile’s cracked

and I only look at her an instant

just long enough to imagine

her frostbitten lips humming

Auld Lang Syne

and the warmth of her chestnut eyes

by an open fire
