Ah! I’m home again.

I can’t lie.
I love the way
you make me feel
meaningless,
like an orphan left
on the doorstep
of
the worlds welcome mat —

Ah! I’m home again.

One for the kid trying to be strong

The other day

I had a good cry

but to tell you the truth,

I really don’t know why.

Perhaps it was the past

or future, or present

it doesn’t really matter though

just so long as it happened.

Because sometimes the universe

can make you feel ill.

Other times though it can give you a thrill.

And on those occasions where

the walls trap you in

it’s natural to flood your way

up and out again!

Another word to an unborn son

Some day
out of nowhere
your mood
will shift
from one hundred percent
to zero,

and you will feel sad

and you will feel weak

and you will feel vulnerable,

and that’s good
that’s natural
that’s life,
so get used to it,
it’s a beautiful thing
even when it hurts most.

The Hardest Part

I
miss
everything
and
nothing
about
you

and
most
times
that’s
the
hardest
part.

Updates, Headaches, and Suppertime

The more my browser

tells me it’s out of date

the more, out of date

I feel. Perhaps

it’s time for an update.

Perhaps, it’s time for a meal.

That is life I told him

He
felt
much
more
comfortable
in
the
company
of
strangers,
yet
still
searched
for
that
familiar
face
in
the
crowd.

Reason #5 for Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail

Having smelled

a great number of motel
and hotel pools
chlorine became a staple
of my youth,
so now,
to balance the equation
like higher education
I will indulge
the scent
of natures stream.

it’s nothing personal, it’s art.

All I need is –

a camera,
(flash)
a crew,
(flash)
rented lights,
(flash)
and a sync wizard
(flash)
to take pictures
(flash)
of your appearance,
(flash)
make-up and all,
(flash)
highlights and softening,
(flash)
to give depth
(flash)
and allure,
(flash)
to erase –

the real you.
