affliction or redemption

What’ll it be

said the man

on the stand

to the reflection

looking very grim

sunken eyes

of redemption

come on come on

choose our next addiction

this time though

be aware

aware of my remission

I know I know

what fun is there in that

hell why don’t we find out

it’s either or perhaps

I’ve given you the right

that now I’m taking back

the will to fight the urge

I know that’s what I lack

so taking down the mirror

with no one staring back

the man poured the reflection

with ice into his glass

he calmly took a sip

one more than another

and when the glass was empty

to him it did not bother

just one more

thought the man

understanding his reflection

it’s up to you to choose

affliction or redemption.

Angels

Don’t you dare close your eyes

like there’s nothing to see

or tell me there’s no reason to be

foolish and fragile and fearful of love

for love is the Ark which braved the flood

Hell I don’t know uh single Saint

but I see Angels every day

they’re all around us can’t you see

in him in her in you and me.

Walking among Redwoods

I never stood a chance in the landscape of her eyes

that green mountain range overlooking cloudy skies

but I walked a long while to get to where I’ve been

and I’ll walk a little longer regardless of the wind.

Is it better to escape like a dove into the light

or give into the darkness which creeps in from the night?

There’s something in the hills, either way I’m headed down

as I stream into the valley, with the current I am now

free from all the heartache, I barely make a sound

with the roots of the sequoia among the ancient ground.

you’ll always be either

too skinny, or too fat

if you’re looking through the eyes

of another,

at least that’s what I saw,

it’s what they tell me

all the time

blister in the sun

My eyes burn from
staring at screens all day.

What I would give
to blister in the sun,

with you, once more
14,000 feet high

above where passenger are allowed to turn back on their devices

above where planes fly.
We were swallowed by the sun

14,000 feet high, no reason
to be anything more than together,

maybe you can help me finish this one
with heads in the cloud, maybe it’s time.
