I’m all out of arrows
Cupid texted.
Thank God for that, I reply.
But you don’t believe in God.
Sometimes, my friend.
Sometimes,
I do.

I’m all out of arrows
Cupid texted.
Thank God for that, I reply.
But you don’t believe in God.
Sometimes, my friend.
Sometimes,
I do.
I
think
I
will
stop
punishing
myself
now.
today’s realization
2/13/19
I read today
that Aries over-think
everything,
which explains
why I mostly
get nothing done.
It’s like a game
of start and never finish
where everything
gets in the way,
everything but the point.
You were so different than me
And you loved Joan Cusack
I never did get to finished Infinite Jest
But there you were in a Brooklyn apartment
And you introduced me to Brett Easton Ellis
So there’s a silver lining in everything
I guess, so like Bukowski
You’re the Bluebird in my heart
But I’m not giving you up to them
I just watch
with wonder
as you fly away.
Remember that
those special people,
the stars
who win awards,
they often look out
into a sea of smiling faces,
smoldering hearts,
and feel very much alone.
Decisions, decisions
take yourself out
of others decisions
and you just might find
the answers
you were looking for.
When a person feels safe
they become defensive,
they fear the loss of control,
if pushed
violence is their only means,
a means which only provokes
more violence
violence that burns
violence that spreads
like wildfire.
When something goes wrong
blame it on God.
When something goes right
blame it in God.
When a baby is born
blame it on God.
When a loved one dies
blame it on God.
Blame it on God
blame it on God.
Some of us get God
the rest of us get Cake.
Tears well
followed by
a deep breath,
sadness
is a fine art,
and I’m still
after all these years
developing the craft.
Here’s to the
sad ones.
We feel
your pain,
we just choose
not to share it.
Sincerely,
the happy people.
P.S.
There is beauty in our sadness.
