Dancing in the distance

And when his memory faded

Dancing in the distance

Like a mirage, appeared

His destiny in heat

Arms uninhibited by the equinox

3+3+2+5

Then like clockwork

I turn my head to see

3+3+2+5

And know you’re here with me

The quietness of failure

I never had the answer

for the question in my hand

I was told you just can’t stay here

so go collect your things

It must have felt like death there

long before he chose

The quietness of failure

in a house no longer home

I never asked for this hurt to be mine

I never felt more shameful by and by

I pushed it all away like it would disappear

I never knew a stranger who

I loved more dearly when he died.

The underlying message

Before you fear the story

Or judge the storyteller

Look at the period in time

The story told was written

To fully understand

Without pride or prejudice

The underlying message

wasted days

I remember all my wasted days

so vividly now and always

because for all my wasted days

tallied together, I’m that much more

thankful for the good ones

and the people I shared them with,

who made them great and who I miss dearly

upon all these abundant, wasted days.

Eating edibles by the ocean

Her sun kissed skin

My wind swept hair

Eating edibles by the ocean

So happy we’re here

word: a single distinct conceptual unit of language

People tend to use words

they don’t fully understand,

for emotions that they feel

though fail to express,

like throwing daggers blindly —

it’s depressing.

Finger Paint and Prose

She put down her pen

and released herself

to the world, renewed.

Purpose became her passion

finger paint and prose,

the poet taught them miracles.

The finest ever known.

Morning Meditation

Like clockwork

yesterday turns today’s

hand backward

toward awakening.

I am whole.

No longer is the time

to judge what we do not understand,

but rather embrace it.

So easily forgotten

is the ability to learn something new

each and everyday.

To venture the world

and to take a chunk of it mindfully

was told to me once,

and though I’ve stumbled

I’ve never forgotten.

Yesterday’s world is no longer today’s

as yesterday’s confusion fades

my compassion continues

and my gratitude grows

with peace and understanding.

I am whole.
