Nobody seems to notice the homeless
Except the little girl
Piggy backing her fathers shoulder
Slouching, down Hollywood Boulevard
She called our love kitsch
From the 17th floor
Williamsburg high rise
Overlooking homeless in the park
Under dressed and over exposed
Was I kidding her or just killing myself?
Fascinated by her manic beauty
As she tore apart the morning in disguise
Throwing fits of rage like I’d paper in a bin
Stripping away my senses like her past
It wasn’t as much a choice as it was survival
Leaving her lust like the vanilla
She tasted on my ghost
While laying down the underpainting
For her latest masterpiece in loss
This morning I made breakfast
Pickled red onions
Deep cleaned the kitchen
Watered plants
And continued reading
Girl with a Pearl Earring—
I guess this is life in my 30’s.
The slammed door said I’m hurting.
The silence said I’m scared.
The walls between us listened
when no one seemed to care.
The portraits on the wall,
oh how they seemed stare,
where deep within night
the stars poured ever clear.
The door knob turned eventually
as silence did it’s head,
the sea between us parted and
the portraits went to bed.
While all the world was sleeping
with all their monsters fed,
the boy and girl slept soundly
no sooner had they met.

It’s an early morning wake up(wake up)
Adjust your hair put on your makeup(makeup)
It’s just a temporary state but(state but)
Either way you’ve got to make up(make up)
For all the time that you pissed away
For every second mistake you made
For every little indiscretion
For all the time you failed to mention
I love you so much my stomach burns
I love you so much that I’m lost for words
I love you so much see my eyes are pure
So stick around and we can make this work
You formed this feeling in Long Island(I land)
On my back and watch the world spin(world spin)
Back and forth in all direction(directions)
They only form a brief connection(except when)
The one’s you love turn from gold to grey
Tell Johnny Frost said nothing gold can stay
I do my best to find another way
The way I work is slow but baby hey
I love you so much I get dizzy spells
I love you so much you’re my wishing well
I love you so much now I’m overwhelmed
I love you so much you’re my homeward bound
Your eyes are healing now I’m lost for words
So stick around let’s watch the season’s turn
I’m slow with change but baby I’ve got faith
This fire burns you are my great escape
The man you met knows there’s a better way
The man in me knows something gold can stay
I never wanted to define you
Just wanted to walk calm beside you
But do I ever do a thing at all?
I never knew how to excite you
Just wanted to be like the fly who
Hung around loving your every move.
I never knew a second chance
As good as that first romance
A third time will only get you killed.
My palms are cold and sweaty now
It makes no difference any how
Like a has been actor thinking what’s the use?
I say it’s maybe
the way God made me
You say it’s crazy
that I’m this damn lazy
I’m addicted maybe
but it’s better this way
After awhile I’ll be all right
I’ll be alright, so.
I think I’ll watch the Super Bowl
Then re-runs of a TV show
Any distraction for two years will do.
I think I’ll start a private club
Then forget and invite everyone
Come one come all come make me feel good.
I never wanted to become
This ordinary silly chum
Up for hours feeling numb and blue.
There’s this movie playing in my head
There’s a plane a girl a detective
Who’s method acting’s got him nowhere new.
You say it’s maybe
the way God made me
And that hey baby
you’re a little lazy
but it’s better this way
this addiction’s crazy
After awhile you’ll be all right
You’ll be alright, so.
The thing that I am trying tell
The thing impossible to sell
A clear cut diamond people get confused.
I never wanted anymore
Than a reason to explore
The imperfections that I found in you.
Like that picture on the cellar door
A sad clown I just couldn’t ignore
His eyes were mine yes they were tried and true.
I wonder if no now I’m bored
I’ll take a couple then some more
Searching my pockets for my next excuse.
I mean anyone will do.
Quietly
seated
at rest
with desire
though
still
desirous,
he knows
better
than to
chase
the wind.
No longer
a girl
not yet
a woman
she will
find
her way,
at rest
by the
phases
of
the moon.
Together
they
are bound
by
foolish
pride
in one another,
backstroking
in tune
to the
ever-changing
tide.
I hear the voice of a little girl.
Exterminator! Exterminator!
She’s maybe nine years old.
I answer the door.
She walks in holding a clipboard.
Her father follows.
He’s smiling.
He knows me.
We do this every second Saturday of the month.
“Please sign,” she says authoritatively.
Her father makes his rounds.
“Thank you,” she says.
I hand her a dollar.
She adds it to the clipboard.
Her father exits the kitchen.
“I no use near food…” he says with regard.
They leave.
Exterminator! Exterminator!
Y escribi este poema.
