It’s funny really
how I’d been thinking
the exact same thing.
And how everything’s different.
And how nothing’s changed.
And how things are fine enough
without throwing a wrench in the works.

It’s funny really
how I’d been thinking
the exact same thing.
And how everything’s different.
And how nothing’s changed.
And how things are fine enough
without throwing a wrench in the works.
We’re all just kind of nowhere, aren’t we?
When we convince ourselves we’re not,
that we’re somewhere worth being?
Then like flypaper pulled apart
time disconnects from space
and we’re left stuck
sticking to the things we swore we’d part.
And just like that
we’re nowhere again,
left waiting to forget how good it felt
to be somewhere.
For every peace I’ve lost
I picked up another
And another, then another
Till I could hardly tell
The difference between
Myself, them—or the other.
You might just find yourself
Very much alone and
Without anyone to call so
If you’re unwilling to change then
I just want you to know that
No matter what I’ll be there
Waiting with myself
Waiting for your company
So now all we get is tomorrow.
While yesterday’s dreams unravel.
Ticking like a clock are we
ever able to grasp the moment?
Present in ourselves,
though hardly in another.
Tomorrow’s but a shadow
hurrying to catch up.
Life ain’t always about
doing the things you want to do,
more likely than not it’s
doing the things you have to do.
And maybe some cool shit along the way.
Feeding squirrels
I’m reminded
How clever nature is
And how clever
I am not.
There was no hope for us then
We were already too far gone
Gone from where? Neither could tell
But going gone, regardless.
His thoughts were tailored by
The absence of himself
Her words sincere but from
The mind of someone else
Each clicked like a chess clock in the park
Played by strangers in the nude
It’s a simple game we complicate
When we react before we move
Her thoughts were tangled by
The silence in the room
His words unclear because
They sounded from a tomb
Each fit like a shadow in the dark
Exchanging others clothes
It’s a simple game we complicate
What we wanted with the truth—
I’m not a gambling man but I’ve played a hand or two
I’m not a fable or myth but I’ve read what sounded good
A tired man sits idle in the park asking questions with his eyes
I’m not that man in the park but what separates the two?—
It’s a simple game we complicate
When we react before we move
It’s a simple game we complicate
What we wanted with the truth
Tangled together in clustered chaos, rising from the soil.
No bark alike. No height specific. No two seeds the same.
Are we so different from the natural world, I ask?
Tangled together in clustered chaos, rising from the bed.
No skin alike. No gender specific. No two wombs the same.
Are they so different from us, I ask?
The answer cannot be sung. The answer cannot be heard. The answer cannot be praised.
The answer shows itself every so often, in between the tangled clustered chaos, where only the silent can see, where only the silent remain.
