There’s always a story to tell.
Always,
A story…
To tell—
Listening in
on a socially
distant therapy
circle, I hear strange
certainty fading
with each spilled sip
of coffee, squandered
on psychosocial thoughts
in alignment with
the universe
always.
In the presence of family,
be only with family.
Put aside the work and worry.
It’ll be there when you part.
And enjoy one another
as if each member of your family
were a dish at the dinner table.
Fill yourself with their essence.
Allow them like nutrients
to replenish your mind, body, and soul
so that when you leave one another
you’ll do so knowing
their presence is with you
for better or worse, forever and onward—
second star to the right and straight on till morning.
Seated in the summer sun
drenched in heat
reading a novel, alone
how sweet.
With memories of you
drenched in heat,
feet stretched out
along the beach.
Where in the summer sun
you’d sit and read
a novel too, my mother
sweet.
While you’d watch us kids
the swimming sea,
and how you read
effortlessly,
I never wondered then
like I do now,
how a quiet lesson
could teach me how.
I turn each page
my mind at rest,
my mother’s sun
warm on my chest.
Hate is easy.
Love is hard.
Truth is the only thing
that will set you free.
Freedom is man made.
Man is weak.
Women are God’s strongest creation.
God is love
and love conquers all.
I would never hurt you.
I will always honor
and respect you.
My love, there is no room
for anything more.
I’ve always kind of been saying goodbye.
Even when I’ve said hello.
I’ve always meant,
Goodbye.
